Wow, there
are so many
EOFY wine deals around, Dan
Murphy Clearance Lines, 25%-30% off at various merchants, $50 vouchers
at Qantas Wine (epiQure), eBay discount codes of 10%, 15%, 20% for
Nicks, Dan Murphys and others. It's all found and posted by mysellf and
hundreds of Forum members every day. As well, all the
(interesting) secret deals from all merchats including Vinomofo are
identified and posted quickly, often within 10-15 minutes of the email
landing.
To
get access to all this valuable information/discussion, you must pay a
Subscription fee via PayPal (and then I'll send you your login
details). The annual fee is now $42
and will be fixed at that rate as long as you remain a
member. Miss one coffee a month and think "That pays for my Red
Bigot subscription". You
can save more than the membership fee on a single purchase (or even a
single bottle) from the many special deals discussed on the
Forum.
If after looking around you
don't think you will get value for your subscription, just cancel
within the first week and I'll give you a full refund.
Fot those not so trusting, there are two
trial access options: a 1-day trial for $5 (non-refundable) or $10 for
a 1 week
trial, (refundable on taking out a subscription by the end of the
trial) and a non-renewing single year membership option.
An ongoing Subscription is $42/year auto-renewing via Secure PayPal.
(Your Username and password will be sent after
I receive the PayPal notification. Check your spam folder if
not received within 2-3 hours, or add redbigot@yahoo.com.au
to your safe list/contacts).
A sample of the deals
discussed on the Forum:
Dan
Murphy's have, over that past 6 months, put many wines out on clearance
at crazy low prices, both deliberately and by mistake. A few examples
from a long list:
Arras EJ Carr Late Disgorged 2005 at under $85 (RRP $200+)
Teusner MC Sparkling Shiraz 2010 under $30 ($65 ex-winery, $45 usual DM
price)
Glaetzer Anaperenna Shiraz-Cabernet 2017 $20-$25 (a short-lived
half-price mistake that one).
Seppelt Show Reserve Sparkling Shiraz 2008 under $60 (RRP $100+)
Seppelt Mt Ida $19.40
Balnaves Cabernet $18.70
Gemtree Phantom $13.78
Taltarni Cabernet $13.78
Pipers Brook Chardonnay $11.10
SC Pannell Syrah $10
I
don’t know if it’s part of the process for setting up Endeavour Drinks
for sale or float, but it’s been a crazy 6 months. I’ve bought much
more than I normally would from DM, but I can’t see that they are
making much money on these sort of deals. My subscribers have had a bit
of a feeding frenzy too and some of those deals are ongoing, state and
store specific in many cases.
You could save your annual
subscription on a single bottle buy in some cases.

About this site
The
secret of getting the wine you are after at
the right price is Research.
The research is to decide what
to buy and where
to buy it. How you decide what to buy is up to each
individual, but where you buy can make a BIG
difference to the price. This site is designed to help you
buy (mostly red) wines at good prices, not necessarily the absolute
best (as there are sometimes super-specials not widely advertised), but
prices that on average will save you heaps of money without much
effort. There is also now a
merchant-independent Forum where members can post and discuss deals
they have found and review/discuss wines, purchases or just about
anything else about wine without fear of offending a wine merchant
sponsor.
Since
all the wine (excluding direct winery orders) I buy is not available
from any one merchant I do a fair bit of research on a daily/weekly
basis via the internet and newspaper or e-mail advertisements from
online and traditional wine merchants. I subscribe to The
Wine Front and the Halliday Wine Companion web sites and regularly list
the best prices for highly rated wines appearing on those sites.
The
most comprehensive and useful wine search
site is
Wine-Searcher.com, it covers most Australian wine sites (as
well as many other countries) but paid subscription is required to get
full results.
I'm
based in Canberra and despite a plethora of chain outlets and local
merchants I buy wine mainly via the internet or mail order direct from
wineries. I buy from e-tailers in Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne that
offer 'free' freight (i.e. freight-inclusive) prices or have reasonable
delivery charges to go with good prices.
This
site may be useful to you if you have any overlap in red-wine (or
Champagne) preferences with mine, however the price comparisons between
merchants are not consistent over time or for different brands and
types of wine, so be careful in drawing any general
conclusions from the information listed here. The wines
listed will be mostly restricted to currently available wines from
reputable wine merchants.
If your main interest is in imported wines, then this site probably
isn't for you. I do buy a few imports, mostly Italian and
Spanish, plus Champagne, but it's only a small fraction of the site
content.
I
have no financial interest in any of these merchants and seek no
favours in return for information published here (I do accept
occasional sample bottles), also please read the Disclaimer.
